Kochi Airport on high alert after anonymous bomb threat


Kochi, Oct 24 (Deccan Chronicle): The Kochi airport in Kerala is on high alert after an anonymous threat letter to the Airports Authority of India which warned of flights being targeted, according to television reports.

As reported, the letter was received by Director of the Airport Authority of India at Kolkata airport. It claimed that the flight on Friday night from Ahmedabad to Kolkata and the early morning flight from Kochi to Mumbai will be targeted.

According to the letter, "An input received says: Air India flight on the midnight of October 24 (early morning of October 25) from Ahmedabad to Mumbai and early morning flight from Mumbai to Kochi on 25th morning at 0500 hrs. Suicide bomber in each flight separately. Please check thoroughly."

"Secondary security checks may be carried out at Ahmedabad and Mumbai airports for all flights around the concerned dates," added the letter.
