Udupi, Dec 22: Shubhaprada Nayak (75), wife of Gujjady Narasimha Nayak, passed away on the night of Thursday, December 21, after a brief illness.
She had taken keen interest in training women in jewellery craft and had motivated her children to engage in agriculture.
During the Emergency of 1975-77, she had been jailed for 45 days in Mangalore jail for her anti-Indira Gandhi regime campaign.
She is survived by husband Narasimha Nayak, three daughters and six sons who include Gujjady Prabhakar Nayak, president, Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
