Baby born aboard Air Arabia's flight

Dhaka, Jan 15 (Agencies) : A Bangladeshi national has reportedly given birth to a baby on board an Air Arabia flight from Lebanon, bound for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka.

The pregnant passenger, who was reportedly returning home after visiting her husband in Lebanon, experienced contractions mid-air and was assisted by cabin crew and passengers on board for the delivery.

Even as a response from the Sharjah-based Air Arabia is awaited, Bangla News has named the mother as Yesmin Akhter, 35, stating her baby was due mid-February but she went into labour one-and-a-half hours before the aircraft’s scheduled landing.

Air Arabia officials at the Dhaka airport reportedly took the duo to a hospital upon landing.

Both, the mother and her new-born are reportedly safe.

The news quoted Air Arabia manager Harunur Rashid as saying their flight’s cabin crew, who performed the delivery, are trained to face such situations.

Delivery on travel in all mode of transport has become a fashion and now become a realty. The child will only have the problem in declaring the place of birth since the birth is on air.All the best to the mother and the child.

    @ Vincent,

Declaring the place of birth for a new born whether on air or land is not an issue, as the plane's navigation system clearly shows the country, boundaries etc. the plane is flying, even giving the accurate altitude, latitude, at the time of birth on board.

Only one thing has to be done is to register the time of birth.

Little foresight on the part of the crew/co-passengers may help pin point the location thru google too

Am not sure if any authorities issue a birth certificate to that effect, except the cabin crew/airline!!

It's o.k -If you have an axe to grind, or spew venom on me. I on my part, do not even know you or remember interacting with you in this forum.
However, please do not take it on the new -born or use it to get back at me. This shows a retardation of the meanest kind in you to comment like this.

    Bhandarkar Sir,
Naturally, "Prakash' gets offended if the baby is named 'noor'. So, he will not 'manzoor' it.
