Moodbidri, Jan 9: Two idols of deities and a few other ornaments were stolen from Guru Basadi near here on Monday January 8.  The ancient idols of Dharanendra and Padmavathi have been stolen along with other ornaments.

The theft came to light on Monday night when the main priest opened the Basadi for evening prayer.  The thieves said to have gained entry into basadi with the help of duplicate keys.  The stolen idols are said to be of twelfth century and are almost 3.5" in height.  The thieves have also decamped with two silver crowns, a silver vessel etc.

The main priest had locked the main door after the prayers on Monday afternoon.  But when he came back in the night, he noticed that idols were stolen.  The trustee of the Jain Math had filed a case with the police in this regard.
