Mangalore, Jan 15: Some of the like-minded organizations staged a protest in front of the deputy commissioner's office against the state government for withdrawing cases against former MLA Kumble Sundar Rao regarding provocative speech on Monday January 15 morning.
SFI, DYFI, Raita Sangha, JMS, Manavata Vedike and Pragatipara Chintakara Vedike questioned government's decision to withdraw cases filed against former Suratkal MLA Kumble Sundar Rao. They alleged that the government has bowed down before external forces and powers and has withdrawn cases that were against him for reportedly delivering provocative speech at Ullal near here.
The agitators alleged that Kumble Sundar Rao was directly responsible to the violence spree that broke out after his provocative speech. "There was damage for public property even. But the state government has withdrawn all those cases filed against him without giving a proper explanation. How can he go scot-free after being responsible for such violence," they questioned.
Yashwant Maroli, Krishnappa Konchady, Munir Katipalla, Ali Hasan etc were also present at the protest site.
