Abu Dhabi - Feb. 04 :  Aloysians Alumni in Abu Dhabi, during an informal function, felicitated Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Eugene Lobo - Principal of St. Aloysius College Mangalore last night.

 Fr. Lobo had arrived in the  UAE, to attend the Agnesian Aloysian Reunion 2007  held on Friday at Al Jazira Resort which was a thunderous success. 



During an informal gathering held in Abu Dhabi, consisting ex-Aloysians and well wishers of St. Aloysius College, Fr. Lobo, was welcomed by Robert Rego.  Jerome Periera, the man behind the first  ever Reunion movement in the UAE and outside India narrated the journey and history of Reunions which were held in the UAE in the past.  He also said that his dream which was at an infant stage, now with the success of the recent Reunion has reached the adulthood 


Fr. Lobo thanked the Aloysians for giving him the privilege to be part of the Alumni meet held recently and was proud of his fellow Aloysians who were so hospitable and warm and they were the pride of Mangalore and thoroughly enjoyed being among his own classmates and his students.


During the informal discussion he explained the progress made at St. Aloysius College Mangalore, which was instituted 127 years ago, is currently having 10,500 students at its premises being educated in variety of  courses.  He also said that the great institution is on the verge of becoming an autonomous body, which in itself is a great achievement.  They are also trying to diversify into various other fields, including  post graduation for which a land is being earmarked near Biri, in Mangalore.

Oswald M. D'Souza - Chairperson for the 2005 Alumni event felicitated Fr. Eugene with a Memento on behalf of the ex-Aloysians in Abu Dhabi.

Robert Rego proposed the vote of thanks which was followed by sumptuous dinner.
