Mangalore, Feb 7: As the first-ever Airbus 320 by Indian Airlines landed at the Bajpe airport tarmac at 11.45 am on Wednesday February 7 morning, faces of the persons gathered there lit in bright smile. After all this was a long-awaited day. Despite Kingfisher airlines handling not only Airbus 320 but even Airbus 321, there were more expectations from Indian Airlines. For one more time, Indian Airlines did not disappoint anyone.
The maiden Indian Airlines Airbus 320 which took-off from Mumbai and was piloted by Capt N R Pathak who is also the executive director of Indian Airlines landed at Bajpe airport with 146 passengers in it. The airbus has 20 executive seats.
Later speaking at a press conference N R Pathak said that the airbus was actually scheduled to land at the airport before the monsoons. However, owing non-cooperation by nature, the flight had flown back to Mumbai. He further apologized for the delay.
He also added Airbus 320 will also fly to Sharjah and Dubai in a few days time. He further clarified that the new runway posed no problems to the pilot and it was absolutely fine.
Present at the press conference were airport director M R Vasudeva and Tony Devin, co-pilot.
