by Vinay Pais for Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (GA)

Kundapur, Mar 16: Of late the subjects of academic interest like ecology and environment are getting attention from enterprising young men who dare to venture into newer and challenging horizons.  Santhosh Kundeshwar, a well-known young photographer is one of them.

He is running a small editing studio in the town and has carved a niche for himself in the world of adventure and aesthetic photography over a short period of time.  He has already participated in several state-level, national-level and international-level photography and has bagged several prestigious awards.

But his new achievement is not only another feather in his glittering cap but also a glorious episode in the annals of undivided district of Dakshina Kannada.  He has won the prestigious "Butterfly Art Foundation" award which indeed is a rare achievement by any photographer.

Only ten premier photographers from India were selected for the award out which just two were from Karnataka.  Santhosh Kundeshwar was one among them.  However his photo running under the attractive caption "One of the Mother" attracted the attention of international jury members who were pleased to award him the prestigious "MBAF" award.  He was also awarded the 'Certificate of Merit' awarded by Green Visions Photography Society of India of Kerala, Sagar Photo Society, Vikas Mudipu and Gulf Oil Mumbai.

“Bats Flying in Haste to Feed on Bananas”, “An Ambit to History”, “A Tourist Spot”, “A Photographic News”, “A Bike Rally” are some of his prize-winning photographer in many photography competitions sponsored by various organizations and NGOs.

He has been working as an amateur photogrpher to Udayavani, Sumyukta Karnataka, Kundaprabha and Janaprathinidhi.  He is a member of YPS FSI, MBAF, SKPA and has been taking interest in the study and protection of wildlife. He has been contributing articles on the woes and agonies of wild birds.

When the present day human relations, he says, are under immense stress and strain, the pictures in colours depicting the wild life are a great solace and comfort. But watching and catching them in camera needs not merely the sophisticated equipment but an enormous amount of concentration as well.

Indeed Santhosh has all this in abundance.  He has already scaled a few heights and is aiming for newer and tougher heights.
