Mangalore, Mar 18: Three prominet Tuluvas were awarded the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy honorary awards for the year 2006.

The awards were given away by district-in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty during a programme held at Baikampady on Saturday.

Dr Vaman Nandavar, Ramadas Devadiga and M Gopala Naik received the award.

The award comprised of a citation and Rs 10,000 cash.

Dr Vaman Nandavar received the award for his contribution to Tulu literature and research. Ramadas Devadiga was given the award for his contribution to Tulu theatre and cinema, while M Gopala Naik received the award for his contribution to Tulu folklore.
