Mangaluru May 17: To mark the red letter day in the history of Mangaluru, which merits a Saint on May 17 in the person of Blessed Mary of Jesus Crucified (Mary Baouardy), the Apostolic Carmel Sisters organised a Symposium on the holy grounds of her short stay at St. Ann’s Convent premises.

Mary Baouardy, the lily of Palestine sets an example to everyone - small things matter. Even the smallest deed done in love is redemptive. True holiness lies in small things done out of genuine love for Jesus.

Sister Linet D’Souza A C compered the programme, Sister M. Linette A C the Provincial Superior accorded a warm welcome to all those present and introduced the speakers. Fr Pius James D’Souza OCD, the Episcopal Vicar for Religious moderated the session and delivered the Keynote Address. The AC sisters led the opening prayer. A short Documentary on Mary Baouardy was presented by the OCD Brothers. Sister Nirmala Francis A C proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme ended with a Solemn Benediction in the Oratory where the holy Saint had lived for two years leaving a fragrance of her sanctity. This unique event brought the Cloistered Carmel Sisters, the OCD Fathers, the Betharram Fathers and the sisters of the Apostolic Carmel together.
