Lucknow, May 25 (IANS): With the temperature already touching 45 degrees Celsius in some parts of Uttar Pradesh, the sweltering heat is set to break all past records in the state, weather office has indicated.
The day temperature of 44.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday was a fraction of a degree higher than the 44.6 degrees recorded on May 30, 2012.
The hottest day in the past decade was May 26, 2005, when the temperature was recorded at 44.7 degrees Celsius.
On May 23, 2014, the highest temperature was 44.3 degrees while on May 27, 2013, mercury was recorded at 43.9 degrees Celsius.
The regional meteorological department on Monday said there would be no respite from the dry heat and the conditions are likely to persist for the next week.
Slight rainfall, however, has been forecast in some parts of the state.
