Muscat, May 5: Muscat Pangalities living in the Oman held their 11th year’s inaugural function by a   family picnic on Friday, the 4th May 2007 at an agricultural farm near Naseem Garden. The day was fun in the sun and beating off the heat in the swimming pool. The entire program was filled with full of fun and frolic events, began well on time at 10.30 AM., with a prayer rendered by Alice Rodrigues invoking God’s blessings on the day’s events and followed by welcome note by the President Jerry Rodrigues a senior member of Muscat Pangalities, who has served   in Oman Aviation more than 25 years, welcomed all pangalities and guests.






In his speech  he  thanked and appreciated the committee members,  in particular  Henry G Martis the out-going president and  a prominent  personality in Mangalorean community  in Muscat  who has done excellent and noble services by supporting all the projects of  Pangla Parish and  schools as such to the entire Mangalorean diocese.  The President lauded the support of members and asked for their continued participation in the future events to be conducted from time to time.

The lighting of the lamp of the inaugural function was done by a senior citizen Lucy D’Mello and Anitha Martis  who has come from Pangla and Flora Martis who is also a  member of Parish council and  Finance Committee of Pangla Parish followed by the President.

The customary Muscat Pangalities of honouring were then presented to the meritorious student of our member’s daughter who has secured 84% of marks in the last SSLC exams. Miss Anima Martis walked away with the honours that was presented by Arun D’Souza a committee member and for the senior citizen of Pangla Lucy D’Mello by the president





The children who came from Mangalore on school holidays have enjoyed the event to their full satisfaction in the swimming pool and various types of games for children and adults were successfully conducted by Sunitha Nazareth .The housie housie game was conducted by well known personality A.L. Monis.

The four teams were made for the games an d for the  throw-ball  The whole gathering enjoyed the games to the hilt with Several on the spot games were also conducted in between the groups  games .A sumptuous lunch was served by the well known family caters Gracy and Henry Castelino. In between, the melodious songs have given more enjoyment and enthralled the gathering.

The committee member Sunitha Nazreth proposed the vote of thanks. She thanked all the sponsors for supporting the event in particular Sweets of Oman Company, and all the Committee members for their dedication and support in organizing the event, and special thanks and appreciation to our Parish Priest Rev Fr Alexander Lobo of Pangla church for his unstinted support to us.

The whole event was well compared by A. L. Monis well known Mangalorean personality in Muscat who captured the attention of audience with his talent and enthusiasm.

The programme which was attended by all praised and appreciated went till evening 5.00 pm. This was a day of interact with our pangalities and guests, a day of relaxation best of all, a day to remember.
