Bhubaneswar, July 14 (IANS): Odisha Finance Minister Pradeep Amat on Tuesday said that the state's total revenue collection has increased by 33 percent in the first quarter of this fiscal against the corresponding period last year.

While the government has collected Rs.6,257.76 crore in the first quarter (April-June) of this financial year, it had collected Rs.4,697.25 crore in the first quarter of 2014-15. This was revealed at a meeting held by the finance minister on Tuesday on the revenue collection during the first quarter.

The total revenue collection during 2014-15 was around Rs.27,820 crore.

The Odisha government's own tax revenue has recorded a 45 percent increase in the first quarter of this fiscal against the corresponding period last year, said a finance department release.

While the government had collected Rs.3,427.31 crore in the first quarter of 2014-15, it has collected Rs.4,980.21 crore in the first quarter this fiscal.

Within the own tax revenue bracket, stamps and registration fee posted the highest growth rate, said sources. The non-tax revenue collection of the state has also increased.

The government has collected Rs.1,277.55 crore in the first quarter of 2015-16 against Rs.1,269.94 crore in the corresponding period last year, the release said.

Amat asked the departmental officials to keep up the pace of revenue collection.

The minister also directed the officials to collect arrears, conduct raids and dispose off the cases pending in various courts related to revenue matters.
