MCC Doha Media Release
Doha, May 20: The second and concluding part of the annual talent search, fancy dress, dance and skit competitions, conducted by Mangalore Cricket Club, (MCC), Qatar was held on Friday, May 18, 2007 at the Qatar Malayali Samajam.
The response to the competitions, like the previous week, was overwhelming and it was heartening to see the enthusiasm and creativity of the participants.
The program was opened with a welcome speech by Cultural Secretary Alwyn D’Souza. Mrs. Dephney Lobo, General Secretary said the opening prayer. Alwyn D'Souza introduced the judges and explained the rules of the competitions. Jovita Pereira emceed the program.
The panel of judges consisted of Nancy Pereira, Annette Venkat, Celia D’Souza, Edward Sequeira and Wilfred Fernandes. The timers were Sylvia Miranda and Mary Fernandes.
Edward Sequeira, who was one of the judges addressed the gathering and commended the participants on the quality of the performance and congratulated MCC for their efforts at promoting our mother tongue Konkani.
Norbert Corda, President thanked the judges and appreciated the efforts of all the participants and their families for their time and efforts. Mangalore Cricket Club takes this opportunity to thank the participants, supporters and the judges without whom the event would not have been possible.
