Mangaluru, Aug 1: High alert has been sounded across Dakshina Kannada district to thwart possibility of unsavoury incidents from occurring in the district in retaliation for hanging of 1993 Mumbai blasts accused, Yakub Memon.
Tight vigil and checking has begun at the railway station here since July 30. Sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads have been pressed into service, and passengers whose movements give rise to suspicion, are being checked.
Stepped up vigil is also in force at the airport and port area here and public have been requested to cooperate.
