Udupi, Aug 5: Wilson D'Souza, a leading professional photographer from Udupi has won the 'Light up the Night' flash photography contest organized by Better Photography, the top magazine for photography in India.

Wilson's flash photography won the first place among 1,400 entries.

Wilson who hails from Shirva took up photography as a career in the early years of the last decade.

Owner of Phoenix Digital Studio located at Shirva and Udupi, Wilson is also the vice-president of Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva. He is an active member of Lions Club, Shirva and member of board of directors of Karavali Christian Chamber, Udupi.

Wilson's forte is wedding photography. He is also interested in capturing life images, portraits, fashion photography and much more.

He has been honoured with many other awards for his achievements in the field of photography in the last one-and-a-half decades.

He won the South Canara Best Photographer Award in 2003 and 2004, and secured the third place in ONGC International Kite Festival held in 2005. He bagged a consolation prize in state-level wedding photography competition in 2008. He also won the top honours in the state-level digital wedding photography contests in 2010 and 2012.
