New Delhi, Aug 8 (IANS): The BJP on Saturday dismissed the Congress' allegation that the central government did not consult any stakeholder on the Naga peace accord, saying the Nagaland chief minister met the prime minister two days before it was inked.

"Nagaland chief minister (T.R. Zeliang) with all party delegations led by the speaker of Nagaland assembly met Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) two days before the Naga peace accord was signed," BJP leader and union minister Nirmala Sitharaman said here at a press conference.

"The chief minister has been continuously in dialogue with the prime minister and he met him even today (Saturday)," she added.

The Naga peace accord, between the central government and the NSCN-IM, was signed here on August 3 in the presence of the prime minister.

Sitharaman also accused former Congress prime ninisters of not taking any stakeholders into confidence before signing various accords.

"Former prime minister Manmohan Singh spoke about Teesta accord, went to Bangladesh but West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wasn't briefed," Sitharaman said.

"Even Shilling accord was signed by then governor L.P. Singh as interlocutor and then prime minister Indira Gandhi didn't brief any of chief ministers of northeast," she added.

Accusing the BJP-led central government of signing the Naga peace accord without taking any stakeholder into confidence, the Congress on Friday said Prime Minister Modi has overlooked the constitution in doing so.
