Kundapur, Jun 9: Addressing the agitating workers who went on a day and night strike in front of the tahsildar’s office here, Adamaru Shripathi Acharya criticized the government for anti–people policy in which the common man was being forced to live on a meager supply of 150grams of rice per head.
The government action aimed at sabotaging the public distribution system at the request of world bodies like IMF and World Bank. Earlier the government at the center headed by NDA had restricted the ration and exported grains to the foreign countries with an excuse for conserving the foreign exchange reserve.
Internally this measure had encouraged the black marketers and the hoarders. The chief speaker Acharya concluded that both the state and the central governments should give up the unit system of distribution and make way for distributing BPL cards to the poor from all sections of the society.
