Mangaluru, Aug 20: Three persons travelling in a car tried to kill two youngsters moving on a motor bike on K S Rao Road in the city on Wednesday August 19. A complaint about this incident was filed at Bunder police station here.
The men on the motor bike were injured in this incident. Their names have been given as Nikhil Shetty and Shanmuga, both from Attavar here. Choni Someshwar, Shylu Bajilkeri and Raghul Ullal have been named as the accused in the complaint.
Nikhil is a second PU student. It is said that he visited the district court complex at Kodialbail along with his friend, Shanmuga, who was riding the pillion. Once there, he reportedly made inquiries with the concerned about a court case relating to a person named Koushik that was posted for the day. As he was told that the hearing has been adjourned to some other date, he was returning to Attavar, when three persons sitting in a car knocked down both of them by dashing their car against the motor bike. Both Nikhil and Shanmuga were thrown on to the road with force, leaving them injured.
It is said that those in the car then got down and began to wield a sword held by them. As they swung the sword at high speed, it slipped away from their grip. Rahul picked up the sword and swung it again, and the sword again slipped and fell to the road. By then, Nikhil and Shanmuga said they escaped from the spot and got admitted into a hospital.
As a large crowd had gathered there by then, the accused fled from the spot, it is reported.
It is said that Koushik, who is facing a court case, and the accused, have a long-standing enmity between them. It is believed that the accused got angry at seeing Nikhil and Shanmuga in the company of Koushik at the court complex.
Bunder police have begun investigation into the complaint.
