Mangaluru, Aug 20: Relating to murder attempt on Abdul Salam, owner of a bakery at Mastikatte by a gang led by Fayaz on August 8, Ullal police have succeeded in arresting two more including the main accused. With this, the number of arrests in this case has gone up to five.
The newly arrested persons are main accused, Fayaz (29), resident of Jamal Quarters in Manchila, and Ummer Naufal (26). Arfan alias Arfa, Saifullasan alias Saifu, and Hanif alias Ibrahim had been arrested by the police on August 11.
Abdul Salam, who suffered deep injuries in this incident, had been admitted into a private hospital in the city. It is said that Fayaz grew angry against Salam, after the latter filed police complaint against Fayaz and his cronies for creating nuisance for him and the bakery customers by engaging in addictive vices like consumption of ganja in front of the shop. After this complaint was filed, Fayaz and his team had shattered widow classes of Abdul Salam's house, and after a few days, tried to kill him, it is alleged.
It is gathered that Fayaz, who took to crime world in 2008, faces 14 cases in Ullal station, of which he has been absolved in two. He is an accused in the murders of auto rickshaw driver Lancy of Babbukatte and manager of Kanchan Textiles in Mangaluru.
