Mangaluru, Aug 24: In a case of moral policing, or immoral rowdyism, activists of right-wing outfits stripped and thrashed a man after tying him to an electric pole in full public view at Babugudde, Attavar here on Monday August 24.
The activists alleged that 28-year-old Shabbir (name changed), a resident of Kulur, was in the company of a girl from another community and both were in the car. The activists pulled them out, tied him to an electric pole, stripped him to bare minimum and thrashed him.
However, Shabbir in his complaint said that he had come in a car only to give some money to the girl, and that while he was sitting inside the car, the girl was standing outside.
Police sources also said that both Shabbir and the girl work in the same supermarket located at Attavar.
Shabbir was later admitted to hospital.
The police have already detained four persons belonging to right-wing outfits and investigation is on.
