New Delhi, Sep 1 (IANS): The Tata group-controlled Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces has exited from managing the Taj Palace Hotel, Dubai, which is owned by the Juma Al Majid Group, after a 14-year partnership, a company statement said here on Tuesday.

Located at Deira city, the 147-room Taj Palace Hotel was was handed back to the Juma Al Majid Group on August 31, 2015, "by virtue of a mutual agreement reached between the erstwhile partners". It was run by Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces since 2001.

Taj Hotels recently opened a 296-room luxury hotel in the Burj Khalifa downtown area.

"With the recent opening of the 296-room luxury hotel, Taj Dubai, the Middle East will continue to be of strategic importance to the group. Located in the prestigious Burj Khalifa downtown area, the hotel offers state-of-the-art rooms seamlessly blending contemporary elegance while paying homage to the local environment," the statement said.

The Juma Al Majid Group is present in sectors like fast moving consumer goods, travel, automobile and real estate. It has also launched its hotel management company.

The hotel chain also exited from managing the Taj Palace Marrakech in Morocco in October 2014.

The Taj Hotels is one of Asia's largest group of hotels, comprising 96 hotels in 61 locations across the globe, including presence in India, North America, Britain, Africa, Middle East, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan.
