Kundapur, Jul 4:  Inaugurating the annual day celebration of extra-curricular activities of Bhandarkars College Dr Shantharam, the administrator of Manipal Academy of general education said that student’s life was a golden period for a man and should not be confined to the four walls of a classroom.

He further said that the educational institute would provide a student the best possible chance and it is up to him to make himself available to the values of life such as perseverance, tolerance and generous disposition that would stand him in good stead in future life. But then it was possible only when the student would fully commit to the extra curricular activities provided by the college management, he added.

Dr K S Karanth, the psychiatrist of Sathya Manasa was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion Dr K S Karanth pointed out that it was natural for students to experience some times the emotional eruption due to intolerance and dissatisfaction. It was time the college authorities provided the necessary out-let for their spontaneous and over flowing enthusiasm through such academic activities as centering around creativity.

He advised them to make the best use of their stay in the college by participating in all the activities.

Prabhakar Tholar, the president of the college trust and the local industrialist of repute presided over the function. Prof S Narayan Rao the principal welcomed the guests while Prof Uday Kumar the student’s counselor deliverd introductory speech. Prof Parvathy G Aithal introduced the invitees.

Dr H V Narasimha Murthy, Prof Gopal, Prof Shanthram and Saroja felicitated the invitees. Prof Venkatesh Kulkarni proposed the vote of thanks and Prof Rekha compered the programme.  Finally Veena Nayak and her friends sang a chorus to entertain the gathering.
