Dengue cases rise nearly to 200 in Gurgaon


Gurgaon, Sep 14 (IANS): The number of people suffering from dengue fever in Gurgaon has risen to around 200, health authorities said on Monday.

"In our knowledge, the number of dengue patients in the city is 196. Only 13 such patients were admitted to the civil hospital...," the hospital's chief medical officer Pushpa Bishnoi told IANS.

Samples of around 680 suspected dengue patients were tested in the last one month at the civil hospital.

Officials said over 2,000 suspected dengue patients were being treated at various private hospitals, while three people have died due to the viral disease.

A 16-year-old boy, a resident of Farukhnagar near Gurgaon, died last month at a private hospital, while a woman from Delhi and a man also succumbed to the disease in private hospitals.
