Shimla records first dengue case


Shimla, Sep 17 (IANS): The first case of dengue was reported here with a patient in the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) here testing positive on Thursday, an official said.

The patient had travelled to the hill state from Gurgaon a few days back.

"A patient, who is a student of a private university and returned from Gurgaon, has been tested dengue positive. He has been hospitalised and stabilised," IGMCH medical superintendent Ramesh Chand told IANS.

He said this was the first case of dengue here.

The state has sounded an alert and initiated preventive measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
