New Delhi, Sep 23 (IANS): Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) CEO Yudhvir Singh Malik was on Wednesday transferred to the Niti Aayog in the rank of an additional secretary, an official statement said.

He has been appointed in the newly-created post by cancelling the selection of Keshni Anand Arora, his batch mate from the 1983 Haryana cadre of the Indian Administrative Service.

"Appointment of Yudhvir Singh Malik, IAS (HY:1983), chief executive officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, as additional secretary, NITI Aayog vide newly created post by cancelling the appointment of Keshni Anand Arora, IAS (HY:1983)," the personnel ministry said in a statement here.

Malik was in the headlines after the FSSAI in June banned global giant Nestle's popular noodle brand Maggi.

The ban was later lifted by the Bombay High Court on the condition that manufacturing and selling would be permitted only after fresh tests.

Malik was appointed as FSSAI chief in September last year.

The appointments committee of the cabinet also approved the appointments of Kavita Gupta as textile commissioner and Kiran Soni Gupta as additional secretary and financial adviser in the youth affairs and sports ministry.
