Seven more Indian Haj pilgrims dead, toll 29


New Delhi, Sep 27 (IANS): Seven more Indian Haj pilgrims have died in the stampede at Makkah in Saudi Arabia, taking the toll to 29 so far, the Indian mission in Jeddah has said.

The Haj Mission in Jeddah put up a list of seven Indian dead pilgrims, which includes five from Kerala and one each from Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.

The seven from Kerala are: Faaiz Abdul Muneer Veettil, Amina Beevi Mohammed Shafi Musaliar, Abdul Rahiman Asarithodi, Puthu Veettil Kunhimon and Moinuddin Abdul Kader. The dead from Uttar Pradesh was identified as Anvar Janha, and the one from Jharkhand as Mansurul Haque.

On Saturday, the government announced eight more deaths, and said that with more bodies being identified from among the 769 deaths reported in Thursday's stampede, the toll could go up.

On Saturday, two Haj pilgrims from Kerala, and two each from Jharkhand and Gujarat, one each from Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh were reported.

Of the list of 14 dead announced on Friday, nine victims were from Gujarat, while two each belonged to Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu and one was from Maharashtra.

    No govt can spend for facilities like saudi govt who handling the haj but still some of Iranian media start to blame saudi govt not surprise .Some of the pilgrims not followed the line discipline might be a cause where even police cannot react to that due to the subject sensitivity.Minimizing the haj visa can be a solution .

    my dear Sudhakar....It is Not the First time such tragic incident happening there!!.......and with repeated incident things are not changed!!.....Prince wanted to visit and they diverted Common people entrance resulted in Stampede.....If no International voice.....matter remain same...29 People died this is not Aviveka!...

    ..RIP..KSA has to send some committee to UP Kumbha mela..the Mela is worlds largest gathering of humanity and the successfully organizing the Mela is one of the wonders of the world..its case study in several western universities..this year its no accident, zero missing person incident event..
