Mangaluru, Sep 30: 'Joshiana 6.0', a two-day national-level IT fest organized by St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor was inaugurated at SJEC campus on Wednesday September 30.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Praveen Kalbavi, MD & CEO, Novigo Solutions said, "I started my career in 1992, that was the time when IT revolution took place in India. Since then the industry has grown tremendously. Today there are 35 lac people working in the IT industry here in India. There has been addition of 2 lac IT employees in the previous year alone and it is expected that the same number of employees would entering the industry in the coming year too. It is expected that the domestic market will grow commendably in the next 3-4 years.
"Thanks to the central government initiatives like 'Make in India' and 'Digital India', the IT industry in India is getting a major boost. This is your opportunity. There are a huge number of engineers graduating every year, but there is less employment. So you need to become employable. If you work hard then there is good career in the IT industry. There are about 3,500 start-ups in India. If you have a good idea and want to start your own setup then there are many people to help you out. So you need to decide what you want to do. I wish you all success for the 2-day national fest," he said.
Fr Joseph Lobo, director, SJEC said, "Well begun is half done, in the same way, this event has started on a good note. You should keep up the spirit of winning. As another quote says 'it is not how you begin, but how you end'. This event has started with great energy and enthusiasm. It should end on the same note. I wish all the best to this event."
Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, principal, SJEC said, "Unless you work hard you cannot reach great heights. Our nation has a great number of thinkers. Quality and low cost service have made Indian companies preferable. Today companies want people who can do things differently, and not the stereotypes. Never give up, instead think positively and keep going."
