Alkesh Sharma appointed chief of industrial corridor project


New Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS): IAS officer Alkesh Sharma would be the new chief executive officer and managing director of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation, an official said on Tuesday.

"The appointments committee of the cabinet has approved the appointment of Alkesh Sharma, IAS, as CEO and MD of the Corporation," the ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions said in a statement.

The appointment of the 1990-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre would be for three years from the date of assumption of charge, it added.

The 1,483-km Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor project is a state-sponsored industrial development project.

The $100 billion project for developing industrial zones, spread across six states to boost economic development in the region and develop industries, would be implemented through the corporation.
