Puttur, Oct 19: The body of Honnappa Gowda (29), an amateur Yakshagana Bhagavatha, who had suddenly gone missing, was found floating in Bhagya rivulet at Nelyadka near Kadaba on Sunday October 18.

Honnappa Gowda, son of the late Padmayya Gowda, was from Purikere in Bilinele village. He was working for the telecom department since several years on temporary basis. After serving at Kadaba, Konaje, Mundoor in Puttur taluk, he was currently posted at Sullia. It is gathered that since some time, he had taken to drinking, and was suffering from bouts of depression. People working at telephone exchange, Sullia, had brought him home on October 16, as he was depressed then.

Honnappa had left home the same day. His family members, close relatives, and well-wishers had searched for him at various places but had been unable to find him out. They then filed missing complaint in Kadaba police station.

On Sunday morning, some locals, who were passing by the rivulet, found Honnappa's body in the rivulet. Kadaba police have registered a case of suicide. Some of the friends of the deceased claimed that he ended his life because of harassment he suffered at the hands of some of his colleagues in telephone department. They have demanded payment of suitable compensation to the bereaved family.

Honnappa is survived by mother and a brother.
