Udupi, Nov 4: The state high court (HC), through an order, has cancelled orders passed by the sub-divisional officer as well as the deputy commissioner of the district relating to the administration of Lord Mahalingeshwara temple, Shirva in the taluk. Through the above order, the above two officers had directed for handing over power to run the administration of the temple to the priest.

Questioning the validity of this order, manager of the temple trust, Mohandas Hegde, had approached the high court. The single judge bench of the HC presided over by Justice Anand Byrareddy, annulled the earlier order.

A dispute had arisen between temple trust manager, M Mohandas Hegde, and the local villagers, about the management of this temple. The locals had filed complaint with the sub-divisional officer and district deputy commissioner. After considering the complaint, the officers had passed the impugned order.
