President felicitates people of Oman, Latvia on their national days


New Delhi, Nov 17 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday conveyed his greetings and felicitations to the people of Oman and Latvia on the eve of their national days.

"India deeply values its close and friendly relations with the Sultanate of Oman which are anchored in shared interests and extensive people-to-people contacts. Our mutually beneficial ties are marked by exceptional warmth and goodwill. I firmly believe that our bilateral cooperation will further deepen and strengthen in the years ahead for the mutual benefit of our people," Mukherjee said in his message to Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said, the ruler of Oman.

"I take this opportunity to convey to Your Majesty my best wishes for your personal good health and well-being, and for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of the Sultanate of Oman," he said.

In his message to Raimonds Vejonis, president of the Republic of Latvia, Mukherjee said, "I note with satisfaction that since diplomatic relations were established in February 1992, India and Latvia have developed cooperative and mutually beneficial relations in a number of areas. I have no doubt that our bilateral cooperation will further deepen in the coming years as both our countries pursue the path of economic progress."

He congratulated Latvia on the "successful completion of Latvia's presidency of the European Union from January to June 2015".

"Please accept my best wishes for your continued good health and personal well-being and for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of the Republic of Latvia," the president said.
