Kundapur: Man returning to Bengaluru after brother's funeral dies in accident

Kundapur, Nov 20: In a tragic incident, a man who was returning to Bengaluru after conducting the last rites of his brother died in an accident in the wee hours of Thursday November 19.

Raghupati Poojary (42) from Hemmady here, who was running a shop at Bannerghatta in Bengaluru, died after his car overturned at Gudde Maranahalli in Magadi near Bengaluru.

About three days ago, Raghupati's elder brother Sheena Poojary (45) passed away at his residence in Hemmady here following prolonged illness. Raghupati along with his wife Sharada and their two children came to Hemmady for the last rites, in his Santro car driven by chauffeur Guruswamy.

After conducting the final rites of Sheena Poojary, the family left for Bengaluru on Wednesday evening. At around 3.30 am, when they reached Gudde Maranahalli in Magadi, the driver lost control of the car and it overturned, it is said. Raghupati who was in the passenger seat in the front sustained critical head injuries and died on the spot. His wife, children and the car driver escaped with minor injuries.

The body was taken to the mortuary at Kundapur government hospital. The last rites will be conducted in Kundapur itself and relatives from Bengaluru and Mumbai are expected to arrive on Friday November 20, sources said. The family is in a state of shock having lost two of its members in a span of just three days.

    Do not drive in the night. 3.30 am is the time when driver become drowsy if you drive the in the night.

    You can get up at 3.30 or 4.00 am and then start driving.

    RIP to the soul. please remember the SAMAYA DOSHA... the people of same blood has to be very careful if their own first blood relatives are in trouble. many accidents took place purely because of these samaya dosha. so whoever associated with that also more prone to be in danger. only prayer and offerings to poor and needy people and charity to overcome these doshas. people may oppose my opinion but its true.

    All I can say is that this man wasn't wearing seat belt. It is highly unlikely that a person should die while his family sitting a few inches behind him escape with minor injuries.
    May his soul rest in peace and heartfelt condolences to the family members for this double loss.
