Kuwait, Nov 21: Celebrating a decade since its inception, the Agnesian Alumnae Kuwait (AAK) under the presidentship of Diany Coutinho presented 'Tenacity' on Friday November 20, at the Hemily Theatre, Jabriya Dental Association auditorium from 6.30 pm onwards.
The fun-filled evening comprised an entertaining stage programme, melodious songs, foot tapping dances, music and attractive prizes for the audience. The highlight of the day was live performance by Prajoth D’Sa, a professional and talented new generation singer/musician all the way from Mangaluru, Karnataka.
After the national anthems of Kuwait and India, the programme started with a prayer song by AAK ladies with well-wishers followed by welcome by president Diany Coutinho. The event was symbolically inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by all the ex-presidents (Jasmine, Diana and Reema), guests of honour Shaju Jacob, Fr Blany Pinto, Sr Serena and president Diany Courinho. A souvenir was releaseed by Diany Coutinho and guests of honour to mark the event. AAK-official release of college anthem was sung by Lloyd and AAK committee members. Shaju Jacob and Fr Blany Pinto spoke a few words wishing AAK.
The whole programme was on the theme 'Tenacity' - Meaning a quality of holding onto or a grip on something. The entire evening revolved around ten inspiring words Tranquility, Passion, Smile, Love, Eternity, Fantasy, Destiny, Freedom, Melody and family which are exemplary in every women and so vividly proven during the various roles they play in life. As expected Prajoth D'Sa entertained the audience with his melodious voice. He sang a few solos and duets with AAK voices Kavitha Colaco and Lolita Fronteiro. His songs in Konkani and Hindi such as 'Udi Udi', 'Lag jaa gale se', 'Zubu Dubi', 'Aaj kal tere mere charche', 'Masti masti' enchanted the audience.
The audience thoroughly enjoyed the series of entertainment like Edore Ballroom (Jason D'Souza and group), comedy acts (written and directed by Lancy Rodrigues, enacted by Staphen Machado, Jaison Lasrado, Renny Menezes, Anil Menezes, Lydia Misquit, Mary Saldanha and Aaron Gonsalves), Jhankar Beats (Jhankar Dance Academy), Ballerines Act (Ballerines troupe), Soul Stirrers (Bonita and Band), Dillusions-Destiny (Vibin and Group), AAK ladies dance (Anita Lewis and group) etc. Kuwaiti singer Mubarak Al Rashed mesmerized the audience by singing a few Hindi songs along with his all time favorite Konkani song.
During the felicitation, sponsors, artistes and AAK kids who excelled in academic and sports were honoured with mementos. The music was arranged by Lloyd Colaco, Anil Pais, Suneeth Noronha, Joshua John, Royston Lobo and Edwardo Dias.
The programme was ably compered by Donna Fernandes and sponsored by Safat Al-Diafa Co, Caesars Group of Restaurants, Arabian Motors Group and Al-Thekair Trading & Contg Co.
Initiated by Kuwait's popular social worker Diany Coutinho a decade back, over the past years the Alumnae has been able to accomplish its mission of financially supporting deserving students at St Agnes College, Mangalore through a variety of events including stage programmes, sporting events, food festivals, dance and handicraft workshops and also Christmas events. The motto of AAK is financially supporting education to the deserving students and creating a platform to the ex-students to exhibit their talents through various activities. In these 10 years AAK has made quite a remarkable impact on over 185 students to continue their studies in Graduation & Post-graduation levels while putting forth many qualitative events.
