Photographing of airports - editor of Urdu publication held

Belagavi, Dec 8: On the basis of information provided by Muhammed Ali Qureshi, who was arrested when taking snaps of the airport here, the police have arrested the editor of a Urdu publication from Kalaburagi, Aijaz Sait.

It is learnt that Qureshi confessed during his questioning that he had been instructed by the person mentioned above to take these photographs. Qureshi was found also to have taken photographs of the airports at Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Hubballi apart from the city. He also had video graphed certain other important spots in the state. The policemen found out that Aijaz had transferred Rs 5,000 to Qureshi's account for this purpose.

On being produced in the court here by the police on Monday, Qureshi was remanded to judicial custody. He was sent to Hindalaga jail. Sait was given to police custody for seven days. Sources said that Sait has not given any satisfactory explanation so far as to why he asked Qureshi to record videos and take photos of sensitive spots in the state.
