Mangalore, Aug 28: The Sociological Discovery prize for 2007 has been given to Busnur Rachotappa Manjunatha, reader at the department of marine geology, for his article ‘Continuing Climate cCrse on Africa needs Greater Humanitarian Assistance’.
His article deals with the deserts threat to the people in Africa and also its benefits to the Atlantic Ocean. Its role in mitigating the effects of the greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide.
This award was given to him based on his work on anthropogenic impacts on deserts, ocean productivity and environmental consequences. The award is instituted by the Pro-Quest Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CAS), Western Regional Office, San Diego, California, USA. This award carries a prize of $ 500 and a citation, CSA is the publisher of the CSA Sociological Abstracts which is the principal bibliographic database of international sociological literature.
