Udupi, Sep 10: A police team led by circle inspector Vishwanath Pandith nabbed two people on Sunday September 9, who were accused of stealing idols of deities and utensils used for temple puja and recovered articles worth Rs 3 lac from them.

The policemen recovered idols of ancient times, lamp stands and puja items while they are yet to nab the prime accused.  Rudrappa, a resident of Konthoor, Hanagal taluk in Haveri district and Basavanyappa, resident of Nenam, Hanagal taluk in Haveri district were the accused nabbed by the police.  The prime accused Jagga Yane Jagdish, a native of Davanagere is still at large.

The policemen on night patrol duty, traced them roaming suspiciously at Kodankoor bus stand during the night while the interrogations revealed their massive haul of theft.

Th arrested agreed to have committed thefts at various temples under the jurisdiction of Udupi district. The police men have recovered stolen articles from the residences of Jagga yane Jagdish and Anand Yane Ramesh. 

Udupi circle inspector Vishwanath, policemen Chandrashekar Shetty, Yogindranath, Raghavendra Uppoor, Ranjan, Sudheer, Santhosh Puttur were involved in this operation.
