Mangalore, Sep 10: The JD(S) will not form any alliance with BJP in the coming city corporation and other local body elections in the state, MLC and party leader Abdul Azim here on Monday.

Addressing the mediapersons at JD (S) office on Monday September 10, he stated that the party would field candidates in all 60 wards in the Mangalore City Corporation election. Even in local body elections, the party will field its own candidates. The JD (S) will not support any other party even though the party has no candidate to field in any ward, he said.

Party supremo H D Deve Gowda has given clear instructions not to form any alliances with BJP in any part of Karnataka. The party will strictly follow his instructions, Azim added.

Speaking about water problems in the city, he wondered if the Mangalore city which gets highest amount of rain and is located close to the sea faces severe water problems, what the condition of the other cities in the state could be.

“Only Mangalore city can develop so rapidly in the state. But proper planning has been lacking because of the mismanagement by the Congress corporators heading the MCC,” he alleged.

Former minister Subbayya Shetty alleged that Mangalore City Corporation is a breeding ground for corruption. The city is competing with Mumbai in developmental issues. But the Congress and BJP corporators here failed to form a proper plan, he said.

On the same occasion, Nazir Ullal of Congress and Padmavati Puttur from BJP have joined JD (S) along with their hundreds of supporters.

JD (S) district president Balaraj Rai, party leader J S Noronha, Zilla Panchayat vice-president Rajashree Hegde and others were present at the press meet.
