Bonn, Sep 13: The Konkani Association of Germany organized the “Monthi Fest” on September 8, 2007 in Bonn, Germany for the 4th consecutive year. Families and Religious from all over Germany and Netherlands participated in the Function.

The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Steevan D’souza along with Fr Robert Rego, in Konkani  There was a beautiful procession with children showering flowers and the adults holding the flowers to be offered to our lady. The New grains specially bought from Mangalore were blessed.




After the mass there was a celebration with lots of fun and frolic. The “Roas” which was flavored with the newly blessed grains was distributed and the “Nouve Jawan” with 7 different vegetables was enjoyed by everyone. There was lot of entertainment in the form of Konkani music, Housie Housie and spot prizes. The highlight of the program was beautiful bollywood dances performed  by our younger generation i.e. Ms Caroline Periera,  Mas. Mitch Lobo and Mas. Connell Lobo.






The New Committee Members were appointed for the next five years. The Members from left to right are Anthony D’silva (President), Kevin Coutinho, Florine Claudia Lobo, Sr Blecilla, Rupert D’mello, Simon Dias and Fr Steevan.

In short it reminded us of our great Mangalorean tradition which bought the whole community and the families together. Thus, showcasing the culture and inculcating it into our younger generations.

    Well done, Claudia. The article is in general interesting information and is well illustrated with phots. I find your initiative very praisworthy because it completes the information for the people in India on the Konkani community in Germany. That helps to strengthen the ties between the two. But apart from this I appreciate very much the trouble and time you take.

    This site is fantastic! Mangaloreans should be commended for keeping the Faith they are true believers. Although globalized, they exhibit their enthusiasm to celebrate their culture and traditions. The word "Catholic" means universal.

    Mangaloreans overseas should therefore learn to appreciate the songs, music and dancing and folklore of the new countries they are naturalized citizens of or resident in, for example, Mangaloreans in Germany must learn to speak German and partake in festivals like Christmas in the same way as the Germans do, e.g., through singing German carols, organizing a Christmas Tree Parties and other ways.
