Bengaluru, Feb 13: Union law minister and former state chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda alleged that some Congress legislators as well as a few ministers from the state cabinet were bribing the voters with distribution of money to influence them in the Hebbal Assembly constituency.
Gowda was addressing a press meet in city on Friday, February 12.
Gowda claimed that the Congress was indulging in electoral malpractices even after the deadline for campaigning closed on Thursday evening.
The polling for the Hebbal seat will be held on Saturday, February 13.
Gowda revealed that he had credible information that Congress leaders Roshan Baig, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Byrathi Basavaraj, Munirathna, R V Devaraj and Manjunatha Reddy were given some specific places in the Hebbal constituency to influence the voters while D K Shivakumar was leading the entire operation. He claimed that money had been stashed at the residence of a manager of a private bank in V Nagenahalli.
Gowda also said that he had lodged a complaint with the election commission regarding the matter. He urged it to take steps to ensure free and fair polls.
He also said that the police should act impartially in this case.
