Lawyers assault JNU students, journalists

New Delhi, Feb 15 (IANS): A section of lawyers assaulted JNU students and journalists at the Patiala House court here on Monday just before JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, arrested for sedition, was to be brought.

Scuffles broke out as the protesting lawyers shouting "Bharat Mata ki Jai" ordered the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students and journalists out of the courtroom, witnesses said.

An IANS journalist said he too was attacked by some lawyers while another section of lawyers protected him. He said he saw other journalists also being attacked.

Some JNU students said that lawyers shouting “Long Live India, Down with JNU” physically forced them out of the court premises.
