Puttur, Feb 21: A team of police from Kerala on Saturday arrested three persons who had robbed a jeweller on January 12 this year. The police also seized gold from the accused. This is believed to be only part of the robbed items.
Ukkuda Razik from Meginapete in Vittal, Mohammed Mansoor from Alike, an employee of Rajdhani jewellers in Vittal, Abdul Hamid alias Gujari Ammi from Paivalike in Kerala are the persons accused.
On January 12, Tony, a jeweller from Thrissur in Kerala was returning to Kasargod in a bus with remaining gold after delivering gold to a famous shop in Vittal. A gang 10 of robbers, who knew about this, followed Tony. Three of them named Navid, Sharif and Naushad took the same bus while other seven followed the bus in a car.
When the bus reached Kasargod government bus stand, Tony got down from the bus and started walking on the road. At this time, the gang of robbers attacked Tony and snatched 1.3 kilograms of gold and Rs 4.3 lac cash and ran away from the spot. A case was registered later at Kasargod city police station later.
Most of the accused persons belonged to Vittal. Mansoor who worked for Rajdhani jewellers gave the information to others about the arrival of Tony and his departure from the shop.
On Saturday the team of police from Kerala, who came to Vittal, found Razik and Mansoor in a car near Peruvai and arrested them. Then they arrested Gujari Ammi. The police seized 749.50 grams of gold from Gujari Ammi.
Taufiq, Navid, Naufal, Naushad and others are named in the list of accused in addition to the persons arrested. The police are searching for them.
