Mangalore, Sep 19: A ‘Hindi Day’ celebration was organized by Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) jointly with Mangalore All India Radio, here in the city on Tuesday September 18.
Addressing the gathering, the town official language committee secretary, Dr Jayanthiprasad Nautiyal stated that Hindi should not be looked at as a language but as one having a composite culture and as having an identity of our culture.
Dr Nautiyal opined that legally Hindi is referred to as an administrative language but Indians have raised Hindi to the position of being the national language.
Making a fervent appeal to save Indian culture he declared “If one wants to finish or doom a nation, all that they need to do is kill the culture. In this direction, we need to save our culture so that our nation will live prosperously,” he added.
He therefore exhorted the participants to resolve to use Hindi in day-to-day interactions and not confine Hindi to one day celebrations.
BSNL DK Telecom district principal general manager T N Sudhindra, while delivering the presidential address, informed that the Constitution clearly states that no language is inferior to any language but Hindi is the link language and it has the power to bind all other languages together.
AIR station engineer S Ajitha was the chief guest of the programme. He distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions held as a part of the Hindi day celebrations. Also on the occasion ‘Indradhanush’, variety entertainment programmes was held.
