New Guidelines for Canadian Immigration with PNP options

New Guidelines for Canadian Immigration with PNP options

by Nancy Mendes - Canada

Sep 25: Contrary to the general notion of long waitlist to immigrate, English language skills, passing marks in federal skilled immigration, there are several other categories and options available, which are fast track and easier to immigrate.
Ontario legislature is considering recognising the need of regularising the overseas educational qualification to ease the acute labour market shortages in particular skills and has already implemented a Provincial Nominee Program or Pilot PNP

The Pilot PNP gives Ontario the ability to match immigrants’ skills to Ontario employers’ and labour market needs. It allows Ontario to nominate people for permanent resident status, and have their application fast-tracked by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

Ontario’s Pilot Provincial Nominee Program is employer-driven and has two categories:

a) An Employer Category to help employers fill labour shortages in 20 specific occupations in the health, education, manufacturing and construction sectors; and

b) A Multinational Investor Category for companies making significant investments in the province to bring in key employees who will contribute to the long-term success of the investment.

Ontario’s Pilot PNP will be more than twice as large as any other province in their first year. The Pilot Provincial Nominee Program is part of the government’s approach to creating a strong economy.

• The Employer Category of the Pilot Provincial Nominee Program will help employers meet their labour needs with qualified foreign employees.

• The International Student stream of the Employer Category will retain talented students in Ontario by enabling Ontario employers to hire them permanently. Retaining the best and the brightest international minds helps make Ontario more competitive and diversifies our labour market.

• The Multinational Investor Category of the Pilot Provincial Nominee Program will support new and significant investment to the province. Substantial investment generates jobs with the opening or expansion of Ontario-based operations.
Immigrating to Canada categories:

Investor

Investor category is the quickest with least amount of wait time to get an immigrant visa. Individual with $800,000.00 Cdn. net worth and substantial experience in running his/her own business or having management experience. Invests $120,000.00 Cdn. to $400,000.00 Cdn. in Government funds locked for 5 years. Finance is available through a recognised government facilitator.

Student

More than 180,000 students come to study in Canada every year. In addition to this number are many more that come to Canada to learn English or French. Foreign students bring a rich culture to our classrooms. Your knowledge and skills are welcome in our schools.

Independent Category (Federal Skilled worker)

Individual with higher education, knowledge of English language and representing profession, which is currently in demand. Mandatory 67 points to qualify.

Entrepreneur category ( Business visa)

Individual who can demonstrate a substantial experience in running his/her own business with net worth of $300,000.00 Cdn. and creates employment for himself and 1 Canadian resident.

Upon Arrival

Settling in a new country is exciting and rewarding, but it can also be challenging. Canada offers a world of opportunities to newcomers.  Canada has one of the most multicultural populations in the world. No matter what country you are arriving from, there is probably a community from that background in Canada. Your local community may be a source of support.

Upon arrival you will need to find a place to live … enrol your children into school … seek employment ….. start a business … arrange health insurance …complete formalities ….. manage your finances……..  may be sign up for language classes. It is recommended that you consult a community specialist in these areas before or immediately on arrival to have smooth settling in Canada.

Life in every respect is far better in Canada than Dubai. You have to see how long you can live in Dubai, and after that, what? You would do yourself and your family a favour - shift to Canada.

To any one who is thinking of migrating to Canada. ensure that you have a guaranteed job awaiting you when you land. -if you are a professional, get in touch with the professional association or institution that is related to your profession -get then to evaluate your papers, and enquire about membership. If they allow you to register for higher levels of membership, then it is worth it - but remember that a job in hand is the only way to go. (most institutions have a job bank)

There are a lot of highly qualified individuals doing menial jobs (driving cabs, flipping hamburgers, security guards, etc). It is a nightmare listening to their stories - Canada, though it presents to the world, a face of compassion, "come, I will give you shelter", peace keeping, etc, is really highly racist in many aspects.

They have hidden policies and many of their "open" policies have underlying racial tones. It is probably the worst country in the world - I have lived in Africa, and I would say that it is similar to many third world countries, probably worst. Their policies are bogged down in red tape. What is surprising is that many Canadians belittle foreigners, never realising that these foreigners have very high qualifications, Recruiters ask for Canadian experience and Canadian papers. - so if you have a good job in the middle east, do not throw that job away think twice, before coming here .

Additional guaranteed income supplements of $628.36/- per person for deserving age 65 and above, indexed to inflation. 8. You are eligible to sponsor your parents, spouse and children. 9. Should you loose your job you get 55% of income supplement from employment insurance. 10. Buy your own house with 5% or 0% down payment. 11. Social assistance for any one who do not have income. 12. Finlay we have broad roads, clean air, equal opportunity to work study and live." Nelson Vaz, Toronto Good information Nelson, Toronto.

Like you, I know many who live there. But one should not forget schooling is not free. The heavy property taxes include school taxes. Medical is not free, it is covered through I believe by insurance premiums or heavy taxes. Old age and other benifits some say not even enough to pay heating and utilities leave alone food and car payments. Without a vehicle one cannot manage in the harsh cold weather.

Unemployment and maternity benefits are covered through ones own payroll deduction insurance premiums.and the lists goes on. Sources also tell me even 70 year olds come back to work as whatever they get from governments is not enough for sustinence unless they have huge savings and these are taxed as well. If one has savings then based on the income all benefits are clawed back(reduced). Is that the situation Nelson?

This article is fine in the veiwpoint of agent. However, I am not convinced. I am a Chemical Engineer presently drawing Dhs.9000 salary in a government job in Dubai. My wife is also working here. My papers are under process for migrating to Canada. However, the feedback I received from friends is very much discouraging. Can any of the knowledgeable reader can advice me, whether I should migrate or stay back in Dubai.

Mr.Edwin D'Souza Kamath, I agree with your views/feedback. Perhaps you know that like any other business, Immigration has become a big business to perceive affluency. Going to London and Paris is prestigious.Isn't it? Consultants engage in "rosy"ing the life abroad for the poor souls who are hungry for foreign lands.

As one reader points out, one should tell both sides of the story while "woo"ing others to lands which they just hear about but not experienced. Once they end up in lands they fear the worst, go through the worst, some may face hardships more than the harships they are trying to get away with.

Can you imagine as the author points out banks finance for Immigration? Where is world ending up to my friend? Its a sad story but my "Odli mai" is not alive to hear this. I know what her reaction would have been.

"LET THE BUYER BEWARE" is one term very suitable for the above article. Well as the esteemd Nancy Mendes has cited about the present conditions to migrate to Canada, Ontario about certain relaxations/provisions for prospective immigrants, it is nice to know about the greener pastures.

I am also seconding John Dsouza too as to what he says and affirmly agree with him. But there is always the positives and the negatives of things. Citing what John Dosuza says he is very right about the fact that all professionals stand a good chance but very truely end up doing menial jobs in Canada.

I too have gone through a lot of pain since I wanted to migrate to New Zealand, which has been a dream till date. There are alot of fancy agents in Bangalore who will show one what it looks like from their point of view. I had applied for migration and they (M/S Abhinav Outsourcings Pvt Ltd -Based in Bangalore, M.G. Raod) had really taken me for a ride.

I had to pay an intial token of RS 75,000.00 as processing charges and then later on they would tell me they said. They held on to my money for more than a year and every time I inquired they had something new to ask me to provide and alo gve me the reason as thigs were a bit slow since the policies are changing etc etc.

At last I lost my patience and demanded my money back. they agreed to return it after deducting a certain sum of money, to which I blatantly refused. I am proud to say I recovered my full money back since I am a lawyer by profession and I threatened to go to court and even the press, thanks to my good connection with the police department. They did return my full money in 3 installments. This is my experience with agents.

Anybody interested in migrating to any foreign country please try on their own, dont depend on any swindling agent. They show off well by having offices in plush air conditioned building with state of the art office cubicles presenting coffee and being very hospitable to one on his/her every visit.

Once they lay their hands on your money then you have to run behind them to migrate or to recover your money in case they say you are not "Eligible" as per the latest laws. So please people you will find a lot of them agents presently operating in Mangalore, But I wont say all of them are not genuine, but please check their back grounds and their net worth and also the "SUCCESSFUL CASES" as they call it, verify and then go ahead.

I would like to ask one question to Nancy Mendes, why many who entered Canada on the basis of their qualifications returned back from Canada and work back in the Gulf? Is there any discrimination? or migrants are considered second class citizens?

Good point Mr. A D’Cunha Shenoy. Every sphere of life there are hardships. But we carry on. It’s our life. We came to this world. We have to live on. In the olden days there were big families. ‘ Vaada ani Sodaa-Sonsar bhora’ I used to hear. Contrary to this practice some decided to be away and their own way to live in a royal way but remained single. Some became saints.

The children of parents who did not have wealth started deserting the parents, went far away got somewhere busy with their employment and earning. It’s not only Canada, US, Australia, and other parts of the world but everywhere in the world living is expensive. Everyone has to learn to live within their limits.

We have ‘Botler’ ani ‘Aya’, ‘Kulkaar ani Dhani’ Some make others to cook but most of us cook ourselves and live happily. You or anyone should not worry if people are moving to east or west. Many are worried when the foreign earned wealth is not coming to the place where they were born. Mangaluru property prices are rising like anything. Can you or anyone do something about this? When some people earn and invest I am really worried about those who are not having anything for their daily bread what they can think of buying property. Only God can take care of this world and its’ people. But people should know who to give how much and when to give.

People in Canada who have migrated tell me its is extremely expensive to live in Canada. Cost of living and other day to day costs of maintaining a house, including rentals as heat is very important in a cold and harsh climate like Canada , some parts like Siberia.

It is also difficult for people properly qualified overseas to get a job in their profession. Once migrated they end up doing menial jobs which are rejected by main stream society. Can you shed some light on it. I beleive its not a land of milk and honey.
