Puttur: Temple invitation dispute - HC seeks government's stand

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Mar 19: The state high court (HC), on Friday March 18, ordered issuance of notices to the state government and others seeking to know their stand on a petition filed against the inclusion of Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, A B Ibrahim's name in the invitation pertaining to the annual car festival of Lord Mahalingeshwara temple here. The petition has been filed by Naveen Kulal, regional unit secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishat here.

The single judge bench presided over by Justice A S Bopanna sought response about their respective stands on the issue from the state revenue department, commissioner of Hindu religious endowments department, and commissioner of endowments department, Dakshina Kannada.

The petitioner has named administrative officer of the said temple and Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, A B Ibrahim, as defendants. The petitioner has claimed that inclusion of DC, Ibrahim's name in the car festival invitation is against the provisions of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act. He has sought directions from HC against distribution of the printed invitation containing DC's name and restraining interference of the DC in temple administrative matters.

The case now stands posted to March 21. The car festival is a ten-day affair beginning on April 10.

Look at the people who are the most vociferous in objecting to the name of DC in the invitation and notice the irony of the situation! the irony is just a generation ago they or their parents and ancestors would not have been allowed to enter the temple courtyard, forget about getting the God's darshan. These people should learn from the past as otherwise "those who do not remember the past are condemned to relive it".

It is a shame about Puttur Mahalingeshwara Temple with regard to Temple Invitation dispute because AB Ibrahim name was there on the invitation. Does the devotees of Puttur Mahalingeshwara Temple aware that that Burma Teak Wood that was supplied to said temple was a Muslim Company called "Coastline Minerals & Developers" where the cutting of wood was done in two muslim factories i.e., at Yenepoya Saw mill, Ashoknagar, Mangalore and then at Peenya, Bangalore. I was part of this huge order of nearly Rs. 1.50 crores that was exeuted. Shame on their mentality. Have they confirmed with their god's that they have invited human or caste. If it is caste, I regret their mentality and their god will never bless them.
