Mangaluru, Mar 19: The city crime branch (CCB) police led by inspector Valentine D'Souza on Friday March 18 raided an apartment at Kadri and arrested one person for betting on New Zealand-Australia World T20 match after collecting money from public.

The accused has been identified as Melwyn Vishwas (27), a resident of Amblamogeru.

The raid was conducted after CCB police received credible information that betting was going on in the flat at Kadri after money had been collected from several people who placed their bets on which team would win or lose the match.

The accused and the seized items and cash have been handed over to Kadri police.

The operation was conducted on the directions of police commissioner Chandra Sekhar, and guided by DCPs K M Shantaraju and Dr Sanjeev Patil. CCB inspector Valentine D'Souza led the raid, assisted by CCB SI Shyamsunder and other personnel.

Rs 3 lac from several people....

    How many 'several'? 10, 20, 50, 100?

Seems like this Melwyn Vishwas is a new comer to the gambling club .... poor fellow did not purchase INSURANCE ... of course what to purchase INSURANCE on Rs 3 lac

Melwyn you should up the bets to Rs 3 crores and then you should not forget to purchase INSURANCE as then your gambling will be legal.
