Bengaluru: D K Shivakumar apologizes for power cuts during budget speech

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Mar 20: State energy minister, D K Shivakumar, has tendered apology to the people of Karnataka for the power cuts that had twice interrupted the assembly session when the chief minister was presenting the annual budget.

Relating to the incident, two PWD officials have been suspended pending inquiry. Shivakumar confessed that his department has faced loss of face because of this fiasco.

Speaking to media persons on Saturday March 19, he said that this incident was shameful for his department. At the same time, he said that the officials concerned will not have any option but to own responsibility for the lapse and face action.

"I apologise to the people of the state and the nation," he said.

Speaking to reporters at a Congress programme in Bengaluru, DKS said, "The incident has really embarrassed me. I have directed the officials of my department to conduct an enquiry. I do not have any report in writing. I have received information only over the phone. Action could be taken only after the officers give a report in writing."

The minister said that as per information received by him over phone, welding work was in progress in the third floor of the building, when sparks were flyng. He said that someone, noticing the sparks, had switched off the power supply. He added that the officials have been asked to conduct detailed inquiry and submit report, duly fixing responsibility for the lapse.

Why PWD officials have to be suspended? People from Coastal karnataka face this problem everyday. So whom should we suspend. CM, DKS or who. It's good that it happened during the CM speech, so that he too can experience the frustration what the people from coastal district face everyday. No offenses to any political party, but the people sitting in their responsible position behave irresponsibly.

Is this power cut actual or artificially created to buy private power. Anything can happen when D.K.Shivakumar is the Power Minister and at the helm of affairs.

Will the Minister D K Shivakumar put the opposition leaders behind bars who ridiculed him for the power failure in the house just the way he got the Aam Aadmi in prison using police force?

Really non-sense. DKS is a qualified and experienced personality should know the value of legislative house or any Govt. venues or more fully OPERATION THEATER.
If his ministry doesn't have engineers who do not know how to prevent power failure during the important function then instead of apologizing he find way out.
Now onwards, he should pass an unconditional notice to all public and private authorities to install DG sets having inverter or UPS incorporated, so that the assemblies, adoration venues, conference meets and operation theaters.
also he should arrange sudden inspections at these important venues to prevent inconveniences.
so that he can save his face becoming black by apologizing now and then.
otherwise it will be as good as the apology will be in practice every time.
Mr. DKS, please take my advise and you will live in house for ever.
otherwise, your apology only remain, not you.

Now you are apologizing for power cuts during budget speech. That is your mistake and you have apologized. But you have promised the general public that there would not be any load shedding as you got enough stock in your department. Now it has become other way around. Now again it has started three -four times power cuts in a day.Why it happening like this?.If somebody complains about the same over the phone, you direct the police to arrest that man put him behind the bar.Why So?.Somebody should not bring to your notice about the problem what people are undergoing and your department fail to address the problems, what best is the other alternative.I would suggest you to better resign from the politics and go for penance. You politicians are all lairs and unfit for ministerial post and liability to the party.Enjoying at the cost of tax payers money. Now will you direct the police department to arrest me because I am bring the real issue to your notice, what people are facing the problems.
