Bengaluru, Mar 26: Dissidence is a common phenomenon during every cabinet reshuffle or expansion. While it was believed that chief minister Siddaramaiah would leave out about 8 to 12 inefficient ministers in his proposed cabinet expansion, a group of dissidents have demanded that at least 25 ministers should be excluded in the expansion.
The number may look big and the demand may seem unreasonable. But the dissidents have a strong reason and a basis for the same. They say all the ministers who have completed 3 years in the cabinet should be left out in the expansion or reshuffle. “There is no need to give reasons like, inefficient, useless, and sick like they did before. Leave out all the ministers who have completed 3 years. They should be given party work in the districts once they are removed from the cabinet. In a way the organizational work in the party will also become strong. Once they perform well in the party work, then they can be inducted again.” says a dissident.
If such formula is adapted, senior leaders like R V Deshpande, H K Patil, H C Mahadevappa , H S Mahadeva Prasad, Ramalinga Reddy, K J George , H Anjaneya will have to pave way for others. D K Shivakumar, Roshan Baig, Dr G Parameshwar, A Manju, Vinaya Kulkarni, Manohar Tahasildar will remain in the cabinet as they are yet to complete 3 years. It is not known whether there will be demand to leave these people once they complete 3 years in the cabinet or they will be allowed to continue till next expansion.
Dissidents feel that such a formula will give opportunity to senior leaders who did not get any opportunity till date. They also believe that this formula will bring in more fresh faces to the cabinet thereby increasing its efficiency.
A legislator from Bengaluru city has become leader of this group. He has plans to include more legislators in this group. He also wants to hold a meeting of these legislators soon and will a take a delegation to the high commend in New Delhi to press for its demand.
Siddaramaiah has plans to go for cabinet expansion soon after the budget session or completion of elections in five states.
