Mumbai, Oct 2: The virtue of respecting the elders has been embodied in Indian culture. The new generation is expected to follow this renowned culture. This has been in practice in India only, which has set the trend for other nations to follow. It’s the duty of every Indian to take care of the elderly. Their guidance, blessings and graces can bring bliss to our life. We have learned to respect the agile elders who have given their best at the prime of their youth. Moreover the significance should be given to serve the elderly from the families of below poverty level. Their pensions awarded by Union government would be deposited directly to their accounts maintained in the banks or post offices. Non Government Organisations (NGO’s) would have to be involved in this yeomen service, more than that of government, in serving the senior citizens, opined union finance minister, P Chidambaram.
