Sullia, Mar 28: A married volleyball referee, who happily walked into the police station on Saturday with the girl proclaiming that his love was strong and he was inseparable from the girl, has landed up in police custody. The reason for the twist is, the girl has complained to the police saying that volleyball referee took her to various places by force.
Jenukodi Mohith (37) from Yenekallu had disappeared with his neighbour Sandhya (23) on Sunday, March 20. Subramanya police had registered two separate missing cases. The duo, that was untraceable for a week, had suddenly appeared together on Saturday, March 26 at the police station.
The couple who went to Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Sirsi and Kadur stayed at their friend’s houses. After a week, they decided that they should come open about their love without fear and told the police “We are in love. Help us.”
The police, who could not be fooled, called the families from both the sides. Mohith’s wife with two small children refused to leave Mohith. Sandhya’s family too objected to this unusual love and elopement.
It was matter of applying proper law instead going by the feelings of two people in ‘love’ for the police. While they were trying their best to find a way out, Sandhya provided a twist to the tale. She complained to the police on Sunday that Mohith lied to her and took her by force in his car. She accused him of raping her.
Police have accordingly taken Mohith into custody, arrested him and later produced him in court.
